Season
2005 / 2006
The first few games were very positive, including an early challenge from a
young Newton Abbot team who took the Revolution all the way into the final seconds where
the Revolution managed to win by a single point 83-82. The Revolution then fell
to the hands of an NDC team deep in talent; the squad were forced to play
without their centre and did not recover from a poor start. This would
prove costly. The team also battled closely with Bridport all year, splitting the
four games 2-2 and also finished 2-2 against eventual league winners, the NDC
team mentioned above.
The Revolution did make it to the Plate finals after defeating old rivals
Exeter Police in the semi final, where they lost to Bridport. They did however get a
chance for revenge on their last game of the season. After playing from behind
for the majority of the game, the squad showed great poise to dominate the third
quarter and come away with a great emotional victory 84-68. Marc Eggleton came
away with the Most Valuable Player award for the season and John Grounds and Brett Cooper were the
co-Most Improved Players. Tom Baker and Ben Thompson were voted the teams’
co-Players’ Player for their efforts in games and general sportsmanship towards
the game. Eventually finishing the Division in second place, the
Revolution was left looking positively to next season.
