Season
2002 / 2003
The additions to the Revolution were crucial in the teams’ success as Ian Hannah
was an experienced and skilled player with Wells. Simon White and Mark Smith
were previous team mates with Marc at Crewekerne and they added to the depth of
the team with their scoring and defence. From the outset, old rivalries were
fuelled with Torbay and University teams. With all the squads still high in
their quality of players it was clear that these two teams would provide the
biggest challenges.
The Revolution team eventually finished Division One in second place both
winning and conceding games against Torbay, and being beaten by the University
team. They were also beaten in the Cup Final by the University in a great game
decided by three points. The Bombers fought hard and their only defeats in
league competition came at the hands of their main adversaries, Exeter Police
who won Division Two. They recorded a team record of 124 in a win against the
young Bridport team in February.
The Revolution finished as the runners up in both the Division One standings and
the Cup Competition and they were left looking to next year. The Bombers team
finished second in Division Two. John Grounds walked away with the Bombers Most
Valuable Player, and the Most Improved Player award went to Brett Phillips. For
the Revolution Robin Boult was the Most Valuable Player, and the Most Improved Player
award was given to James Perry.
