Who & Where We Play?
Revolution Basketball has a policy for welcoming all players no matter what age, gender, experience or skill level. Feel free to come along to our practice nights. Adult Sessions are two hours starting at 8.30pm on a Monday, for details on the NEW Junior Programme for 2010 check the Junior Section of the website. It may be best to check our sc
hedule for Games / Training nights as we also have home games on Monday nights as well. Why not come and watch, meet the players and the Coach and get a feel for the club?
What Do You Need?
The sports hall we practice in is a full sized court and we have the basketballs so the only thing you need to bring is a pair of indoor sports shoes with non marking soles and suitable playing clothing. Preferably you will have basketball boots, and if you want to play regularly they are recommended.
Why not have a look or buy some suitable here;
Revolution Basketball Online Store.
How Much Does it Cost?
Your first session with us will be free. This will give you the opportunity to meet everyone and see how you feel. We hire the sports hall so there are some costs to playing or joining the team, usually £6.00 for adult non members (in employment and 18 or over) or £3 for juniors / full time students. The cost of full membership to the club will vary depending on age and the point of the year we are in, but we can speak to you about that if you are interested.
What Do You Do at Practice?
Firstly, our Coach or Session Leader will introduce you to the other other players as we feel its important to get along and feel welcome. Then we warm up and practice.
Team plays are practiced by the members of the squad, and for any players just
wishing to practice specific skills such as shooting or dribbling additional
sections of the court are usually available. If a player needs tips and advice
or wishes to share their own techniques then this can be discussed. If time
permits we play a game between each other to finish off with. Training sessions
vary but the most important thing is that everyone achieves something positive.
All sessions are led by the Coach and participants will have the opportunity to
learn, support each other and work as a team and individually on skills or
fitness. During the course of the regular season (which is usually between July
and April) training will still be open to casual members however at times the team
players will require the use of the whole court.
How Do I Play for the Team?
Once you have spoken to us and requested joining the team,
there will be an opportunity to play in organised league competition. In the past we have had two league teams so there is plenty of space for everyone to play at league level. There are league registration fees for players who wish to play in organised competition, but we can discuss this at the time.
What Else Do You Do Apart from Play Basketball?
As a club we try and do several social events through the year. We have our annual presentation night,
celebrations such as a Christmas dinner and local basketball events. Players over 18
sometimes meet for drinks after practice nights or games.
I'm Under 18. Does That Make A Difference?
If you are 14-17 years old you can join the Junior Programme (Spring / Summer 2010). We have Child Protection Policies in place which you can find on the Club Documents
/ Constitution Page. Parents can contact us if they have any questions about the
club.
I'm Not Sure I'm Good Enough to Play?
We welcome players of all skill levels. If you enjoy playing basketball and want
to join in and improve then you are welcome. We encourage all types of players no matter what skills they have, to join our
basketball team. We do play competitively and the best players get selected for
the matches we play, but we want the other players to have the desire to improve
and get their chance to play as well. The whole idea of practice nights to help you enhance your
existing skills and to develop new ones. Over the years we have had players that
had little or no skills and all have made it in to our team or moved on to
greener pastures. So don't be embarrassed about coming to our practice night. We
want you to become good players at a level that you feel comfortable with.
